Chad Ocho Cinco

Chad Johnson was not allowed to have the back of his jersey changed to "Ocho Cinco" on Sunday's game. Financial obligations of Reebok prevented the change because they do not want to be stuck with an inventory of thousands of Johnson jerseys since the NFL has approved the legalizing of Ocho Cinco on his jersey.

NFL commissioner Roger Goodell commented that the name change on his jersey would probably change soon, but first it's a legal matter.

Although it's amazing how many stories I have heard about the name change - which I've very easily become annoyed with - how did the Cincinnati Bengals actually play on Sunday against the Baltimore Ravens? Of yeah, they lost 17-10.

Reporters gathered around Ocho Cinco to ask him about the name change, not even the game. For once I'm going to admit I'm kind of on Ocho Cinco's side this time. How could the sports reporters honestly forget where their priorities were? Yes, I believe the public wants to know more about his jersey, but after a loss that should be the least of their concerns. Why not try something more along the lines of "what went wrong today?" or "what will be on the Bengals agenda to win next week against the Tennessee Titans?"

Of course Ocho Cinco was not up to the idea of commenting minus replying to reporters that he could care less about the name change for the moment since the Bengals just lost. Good for him. It's nice to know he is not completely concerned about only himself.

My thoughts on him changing his name to Ocho Cinco is completely pathetic. I feel like it is just another ploy to get more attention...he has gotten the reputation of showboating and I think it is ridiculous to feel the need to legally change your name to your sport jersey number. Just my thoughts!

I think as long as the Bengals have Chad whatever, they're in deep trouble.

Your example of how the reporters only seemed to ask Chad... about his jersey and not about the game itself is a bit insane for both Chad and the Bengals.

I mean, he's now bigger than the team (with the questions about him and not the team's performance), and that will soon doom Marvin Lewis and the Bengals as a whole, in my opinion.

An ESPN blogger on Friday compared Ocho Cinco to former Bengals wide receiver Carl Pickens, who went from great to out of the league in only two years. Do you agree or disagree that Ocho Cinco's career is pretty much over, and why or why not?

ASSIGNMENT - What's it going to take for Chad O to turn his season around?

Attention Sports Fans:

Hey guys, just wanted to extend everyone an invite to my house (923 e. Jefferson) this Saturday for an awesome day of tailgating, lawn games, and football watching. There’ll be games on multiple large-screen TVs starting at 11am and leading up to the big primetime match-up (No, not PSU/OSU, Notre Dame v. Washington!). I have a pretty big yard so all day we’ll have games going on (Bags, Australian Frisbee, Pong/Flip Cup, etc), and we’ll also grill plenty of meat. Feel free to bring friends/girlfriend/boyfriends/dogs (the yard is fenced in and my dog could use company). I’ll probably get a keg from John’s of something decent, let me know if anyone has any particular requests. Hope you guys can all make it!

P.S. Dave you don't have a blog I can post this on, but you're expected to make an appearance as well.
